Mission and Objectives
Mission of the National Alumni
Association:
To encourage and promote involvement of Alumni by: meeting their needs for
Alumni services; creating opportunities for participation in the life of the
University; and, developing and disseminating information that communicates the
academic excellence of North Carolina A&T State University.
Mission of
the Washington, DC Chapter of North Carolina A&T State University Alumni
Association, Inc.:
To support and adhere to the overall objectives of the National organization
by being a significant catalyst for higher education in the Washington, DC
metropolitan community through student recruitment, mentoring activities,
academic scholarship programs, A&T Foundation contributions,
alumni/community fellowship activities and volunteer/outreach programs that
impact and enhance the lives of membership, students and local residents.
The objectives of this organization shall include, but are not limited to
the following:
To promote goodwill and activities in the Washington, DC metropolitan area
that will benefit local residents, provide financial support and adhere to the
mission and objectives of the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni
Association within the local and national area organizations.
To encourage graduates, former students, former faculty and high school
students in the Washington, DC metropolitan area to enhance their academic
status and expertise in pursuit of public service within the local and federal
governments.
To host and participate in Washington, DC metropolitan area activities that
introduce parents, counselors, mentors and local students to the University's
academic, athletic and scholarship programs, tuition assistance program, campus
life and career opportunities.
To collaborate and sponsor activities with local schools, college fairs,
organizations and city officials that recognize academic excellence, enhance
scholarship opportunities and encourage specialized talents in Washington, DC
metropolitan high school and collegiate students with interest in the
University.
To fellowship and promote social, economic and community service projects in
the Washington, DC metropolitan area that enhance the lives of the membership,
students and Washington, DC metropolitan area residents.
To provide guidance and placement for the membership, new graduates and high
school students within the Washington, DC metropolitan area regarding employment
(internships, co-op and permanent positions), occupational advancement,
transfers and career opportunities.
